All About Wirral Forums

One day Eddie had an idea. I’m not sure what motivated him to have this idea, the real story of Wirral Forums will be left to him. My part is just incidental.

I will explain a little of myself and my part in Wirral Forums.

I consider myself an ex-service user. I am somewhat recovered from my mental distress which had its roots in drug addiction that started around my early teens. There was other stuff too, but that was the anchor and albatross to which I was bound most securely.

Eddie and myself first met in the infamous Wirral Mind Fountain Project (I was a refugee from the old Wirral Mind Fountain Club in the basement of Oxton Congregational Church, that us “memebers” respectfully referred to as “the nuthouse”). Eddie was the Editor of the club magazine. Somehow, I ended up as Editor after he resigned. I resigned a few months later. Not long after that, I left Mind.

I started making websites, learning html, css and a little php. After a while I started hosting websites for people. Then came Eddie’s idea. I designed and hosted Wirral Forums, soon Eddie took over the design and we started to grow.

Then the server broke in 2004. For 6 weeks, while the one man support team that is Manu went on holiday, Wirral Forums disappeared and instead it linked to the much missed by some people, South Melbourne FC supporters website, which I also hosted at that time.

Manu came back and it was fixed within the hour.

Eddie continued to develop the site and I continued to host it. Things were looking up, then the server got fried and everything is missing, presumed lost forever.

Now I am developing the site again while Eddie has another holiday. When he comes back, I’m sure he will put a few things straight in this.

Here is to a successful future.
